Cemetary ManAfter listening to the feedback about being too negative and not giving you guys enough positive reviews, so we at Zombiesdrule went out did some extra research and tried to find a couple of good films to review this week. One of those films being “Cemetery Man”.

This movie is about a cemetery caretaker who also has destroying the zombies that come back from the dead written as part of his job description. One day he meets a mysterious women who he instantly falls in love with and then loses. After that he seems to go on a constant but slow descent into madness. Can’t blame him, after years of shooting zombies in the head and only having your Igor like friend who only says “Gna!” to talk to I’d probably go mad too.

There was enough comedy, gore and nudity in this film to keep me interested. But the whole time I felt like I was missing something. I never got a real sense that I was following a story. It just seemed to be a bunch of random ideas that were going on. We did watch the extended director’s cut which may of contained more than it should of, but on a whole I found the film zipping along too fast as it jumped from one idea to another. Within 2 minutes of meeting the mysterious girl our hero went from complete stranger to her, to her hating him, to her intrigued by him, to them getting jiggy with it on her dead husband’s grave. That is a lot for the audience to process in such a short time. All that being said I still did laugh at a number of jokes throughout the film, and it was fairly entertaining. It seemed to get better towards the end were it really started to push the bizarre and reminded me a lot of Terry Gilliam’s “Brazil”. When I think about that movie compared to this movie though I just don’t feel that same connection to the main character were I understand where he’s coming from and I want to see his story play out. But what do I know? IMDb has 148 reviews on this film and I’d say over 100 of them are very positive.

Best Line: “No, please don’t he’s only eating me”
