Positives

"Mimesis" is a refreshingly original idea.

Negatives

This great idea for a zombie film didn't quite reach it's potential.

mimesis-dvd-artWhy watch a horror film when you can live one? The tagline for the film “Mimesis”, a horror movie about a group of people trapped in horror movie. If that wasn’t enough the psychos who trap them force them to watch scenes from the original horror movie that they themselves are now trapped in! Who are these people?

Fresh from a recent horror film convention Duane and Russell decide to check out an invite only party happening after the convention. After a night of drinking they wake up to find themselves, along with 5 others stuck in the 1968 George Romero classic “Night of the Living Dead”. Now they and the group of strangers they’ve been trapped with have to find a way of re-writing horror film history and making it out of the film ALIVE!

“Mimesis” is a refreshingly original idea for a zombie film. It’s well acted for the most part and definitely has some tense moments that will leave your spine tingling. It also leaves you feeling that there could of been something more. Maybe it needed a bigger budget or a bit more story development but whatever it is you don’t feel fully satisfied that this great idea for a zombie film reached it’s potential. That being said it’s still an enjoyable zombie flick that will appeal to fans of the genre and those who have seen and loved “The Night of the Living Dead”

“Mimesis” is directed by Douglas Schulze, with screenplay by Joshua Wagner and Schulze.

Zombie David
Zombie David was asked to do a review of the film Dead Snow as a favour. Apparently he did something wrong because that small request has turned into a weekly obligation. When Zombie David is not critiquing the way zombies say "ugh..." he works in the animation industry as an editor.
